I am wont to think that sometimes our priorities are just plain wrong especially when it comes to the provision of services by the darned govt. Yeah, they claim the democratic space is open. Bla blah. Anyway, my beef is with those who interfere with my pursuit of happiness. For example, in Kenya, old is not necessarily gold. I talk about old classic vehicles. You cannot import a vehicle over 8 years old, ostenibly to protect local manufacturers from unfair competition from cheap used imports, and to protect the environment from all the usual effluent. Fair enough. But what if I found a supuu 1970 Benz 280sl on say E-bay and felt that I just had to have it. Do I emigrate coz it would not be allowed into the country or what?
I believe I am as vain as the next guy or gal. I would like to have my 2 cents worth emblazoned on my license plates. Should the govt take this as an opportunity to allow me to, for once, vainly and voluntarily give them money in sin taxes for vanity plates and a car that is to say the least, righteous?
